Overview[]
The Tablelands are the main setting of adventures and travel in the world of Athas. It covers about 260,000 km² (100,000 sq miles) and consists mostly of barren desert, arid badlands, with intermittent patches of mud, vegetation or forest.
Most of the population lives in the seven city-states. The rest live in scattered, isolated villages near oases and wells, or travel in nomadic tribes.

The Tablelands are roughly bounded by the Sea of Silt to the east, the Hinterlands to the west, the Endless Sand Dunes to the south, and the city-states of Urik, Raam or Draj to the north.
